Dr. Gokler graduated from Ankara University Medical School in 1973 and completed her Psychiatry training at Psychiatry Department in Hacettepe University in 1978. She received the title of “Associate Professor” in 1985 and “Professor” in 1994 in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She was elected as a member of the “Honor Committee” of Turkish Medical Association Central Council for 2 terms, elected as the vice-president of Turkish Child and Adolescent Mental Health Association for 2 terms and vice-president of the Proficiency Board of Association of Turkish Child and Youth Psychiatry.
She completed the Psychodrama Training Program organized by the Turkish Association of Group Psychotherapies, together with Moreno Psychodrama Institute, Überlingen, Germany and became a “Psychodrama Therapist” in 1998. She also completed psychoanalytic group therapy training between 1994-2002.
She is presently the Turkish representative of the European Union of Medical Specialist (UEMS) under the Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Psychotherapy Unit.
Dr. Gokler was the recipient of the 1995 “Professor Doctor Mualla Öztürk Child Mental Health Award”.
Her professional interests include psychoanalytic psychotherapy, self psychology, developmental psychopathologies, child neglect and abuse, family and group psychotherapies and psychodrama.
She is currently a member of the Child Abuse and Neglect Team at Hacettepe University Children’s Hospital.
She also worked with children in orphanages who needed psychiatric help and for training the staff in Social Services and Society for the Protection of Children. She was a member of the Ministry of Health Board of Specialty in Medicine, Curriculum Commission (for the specialty of child psychiatry) and also a member of the General Directorate of Primary Health Services Department of Mental Health Scientific Advisory Committee.
She has been the head of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Department in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine since 1995. She is also the editor of the Turkish Journal of Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
