Dr. Özdemir graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1994. She completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2004. She has been working in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine as teaching staff, since 2005. She had done clinic and research studies on Turkish immigrants in Germany at the Essen University (Institut der Universitat Duisburg-Essen) Psychosomatic Clinic (Klinik für Psychosomatische Medizin und Psychotherapie) for 4 months.
Dr. Ozdemir was the recipient of the 2010 Prof. Dr. Mualla Ozturk Child Mental Health Award with other researchers of the Infant Mental Health Commission of Association of Turkish Child and Youth Psychiatry, with the project of “Determination of Turkey’s Early Childhood Period (1-3 years old) Mental Health Profile”, directed by Assistant Professor Dr. Koray Karabekiroglu.
Her special professional interests include child abuse, children exposed to trauma and involved in crime. She also works in infant mental health and psychopathologies. She is currently a member of the Child Abuse and Neglect Team at Hacettepe University Children’s Hospital.
